I read the gutsy TNR essay about the unintended consequences of doing
good, and like your up-front/blunt style revelation about some of the catch 22’s. The fate of some Play-Pump installations is akin to sick comedy. Maintaining the working order of such miraculous things is obviously no small challenge. If I read the available literature of the
philanthropy “industry,” I seriously doubt I’d be as informed of the real administrative experiences in the needy 4th world.
